I have been ill since I was 10 years old (I’m currently 20) meaning I have had the time to experiment and discover what helps relieve my long-list of symptoms. The most notable symptom I have been successful in easing is nausea which absolutely plagued the early years of my illness.
The most effective way I have found to keep my nausea in check is to stay hydrated and eat little and often, while avoiding red meat and large meals. I also take Lansoprazole which is prescribed by my GP. https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/lansoprazole/
Everything else I have tried had no or little effect: ginger is shown in some trials to be effective but it did nothing for me https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4818021/ Acupressure wrist bands were quite a style statement but also did nothing. Gluten Free is only beneficial if you have an underlying Gluten intolerance or Celiac disease. https://www.actionforme.org.uk/resources/questions-and-answers/will-changing-my-diet-help-me-manage-my-symptoms/
Last Thursday I visited The Sill on Hadrian’s Wall with some family, we ate a gorgeous lunch in the Once Brewed cafe on the First floor (lift opens straight into the Cafe, major bonus).Stupidly I overindulged (mainly because the chocolate brownie was too tempting) meaning I didn’t eat anything for the rest of the day, as I was full. However this caused my nausea restarted. https://www.oncebrewed.com/
Having returned to my normal ‘diet’ (hate that word) the nausea has subsided but it has made me more mindful about my symptoms even ones that are dormant.
How has nausea effected you?
